Mark Robson admitted he could not fault his team’s work ethic against Aldershot Town and was disappointed the Bees didn't have anything to show for their efforts at full time.

A 67th minute strike from Craig Reid settled what was a poor match lacking in real quality throughout.

The Shots goal was well taken but two mistakes cost the Bees in the build up.

Jordan Brown was unable to stop Adam Mekki crossing into the box and the Shots striker reacted quickly to get ahead of Krystian Pearce and fire home.

Robson stated he was pleased with the effort of his side but was left frustrated with the final result.

He said: “The boys are very disappointed and I am gutted for them. They worked their socks off and it is very disappointing they have conceded a goal we could have avoided.

“The lads are very down because the work ethic and the way they played meant they felt they could have got something from the game.

“We were confident at half time that we could go on and maybe nick a goal but it wasn’t to be.”

He continued: “It wasn’t a particularly good game but we were quite gritty I thought. I’ve just spoken to Jordan because the cross for their goal should never have come in.

“He is only a young lad and he will learn from that mistake. But he has got to do better and he knows it because if the cross doesn’t come in, we keep a clean sheet and maybe get a point. But unfortunately it wasn’t to be.”
