Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers’ junior side continue their club’s success this season by claiming victory in the National Junior League Final.
Harriers came out on top with a final total of 487 points. Birchfield Harriers were in second place with 444 points while the top three was rounded off with Blackheath & Bromley on 435 points.
Shaftesbury's men won their section by a record points margin of 66. In the under-17 400m, Dereece O’callaghan ran a time of 48.66 which ranks him number three in the UK at his age group.
Jonathan Grant is ranked at number four after he jumped a distance of 7.39m in the long jump while in the under-17 1500m, Sophia Parvizi-Wayne ran a time of 5:21.58 which places her at number one in the top ten performances.
Overall, Shaftesbury Barnet recorded 22 individual wins, 15 second places and six third places which enabled them to claim top spot. The junior team will now look to take their form to the European Champion Clubs Cup for Juniors on Saturday 15 September.
Shaftesbury Barnet’s senior men side were in action at the British Athletic League Super8 Cup Final, winning three of the 13 events and taking second or third place on six occasions.
The winning athletes for Shaftesbury saw Confidence Lawson coming home first in the 200m with a time of 21.59.
Daniel Bramble took top spot in the long jump with 7.07m while Gregory Thompson was first in the discus with 51.31m.
