Finchley narrowly avoided relegation from Middlesex County Cricket League Division One after they ended their campaign with a four-wicket loss against Ealing.

After winning the toss, Ealing decided to insert Finchley who, after losing Jake Milton (five) early one went on to build a good total of 263 all out from 61 overs.

The main contributions to the final total came from Steve Selwood (30), Joshua Knappett (61) and Keerthi Ranasinghe who top scored with 82 from 95 deliveries.

It certainly was a defendable total but the Ealing batsmen started strongly with openers Oliver Wilkin (56) and Harry Podmore (28) putting on 79 for the first wicket.

Number four Chris Wakefield then struck 63 off 56 balls to put his side in a commanding position.

Good contributions were also added from Zeke Snyman (33) and Leigh Parry (45) and Ealing got home in 37.5 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Imran Qayyum claimed two for 69 for Finchley while there were single wickets for Frahan Butt, Majed Ali, Hamza Qayyum and Milton.
