Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers Yamile Aldama and Trecia Kaye Smith were both unable to pick up a medal in the Olympic triple jump final this evening.
Aldama came closest out of the duo but her longest jump of 14.48m was only good enough for fifth place.
Representing Jamaica, Smith produced a season’s best but she too could not get herself on the podium, with her furthest jump measuring 14.35m.
Kazakhstan’s Olga Rypakova was crowned Olympic champion with a season’s best 14.98m, while Colombia’s Caterine Ibarguen and Olha Saladuha picked up silver and bronze respectively.
