Abi Oyepitan advanced to the semi finals of the 100m this evening in the Olympic Stadium.
The Shaftesbury Barnet Harrier athlete finished fifth in Heat Two in a time of 11.22 – just one one-hundreth of a second outside her season’s best.
With only the top three from each heat certain of progression, the 32-year-old faced a nervous wait to see how fast the following heats would be run.
But across the six heats, only two athletes who didn’t automatically qualify ran faster than her, meaning she will line up again tomorrow night, hoping to book a place in the final which will also be run tomorrow.
