Edgware Town are safely through to the second round of the FA Vase.

Adam Wallace, Paul Killick and Stuart Blackburne were all on target in the 3-1 win at home to Essex League leaders Brentwood Town on Saturday.

The Wares will now host Saffron Walden Town of Ridgeons League Division One.

Edgware were helped by the dismissal of Brentwood's Frank Curly after 30 minutes - the hosts grabbed their opener through Wallace just a couple of minutes later.

There were further chances, but the Wares did not strike again until the 53rd minute, Killick finding the net after a Richard Morton lay-off.

Blackburne fired home a third just before the hour and, though Brentwood pulled one back with 20 minutes to go, the visitors were unable to stage a dramatic comeback.

Meanwhile, Edgware are now just two points behind leaders Hertford Town in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division table after a Wallace hat-trick saw off Haringey Borough 3-1 on Tuesday night.

The Wares ended up playing against only nine men. Goalkeeper Julian Roberts was sent off for handling the ball outside his area after ten minutes and then defender Michael Gonzague saw red 15 minutes from time for two bookable offences.

Edgware were already 1-0 up before Roberts left the field, though they were stunned by a Haringey equaliser after 16 minutes.

The lead was restored and Wallace then completed his hat-trick after the break.

The Wares travel to Broxbourne Borough for another league encounter this Saturday.

u Hendon saw their London Senior Cup challenge ended by Wealdstone on Tuesday night.

The Greens enjoyed most of the possession of a goalless first half, but their hosts carved out the better chances.

And it was the Stones who broke the deadlock on the hour after keeper Anthony O'Connor fumbled a shot.

The decisive second came on the break in the 77th minute.

Hendon's best chances fell to Lee O'Leary and Dean Green, but there was no way through for the Greens.
