Barnet came from 2-0 down to earn a point in a pulsating clash at Underhill this evening.

The Bees, under new boss Martin Allen, fought to the death and gained their reward with a last-gasp equaliser.

Sam Deering's second goal of the game came about from a dreadful error from Chesterfield keeper Tommy Lee, but it was no more than Barnet deserved.

And the players were given a standing ovation at the final whistle.

A point might not be enough to keep the Bees up, but they are certainly determined not to go down without a fight under Allen.

However, Barnet got off to a nightmare start this evening, even before a ball was kicked.

Anthony Pulis was originally named on the team sheet, but he was stretchered off after getting injured during the warm-up, which meant Sam Cox had to replace him.

However, on the pitch, the Bees started very brightly, Joe Devera seeing a shot blocked following a corner.

Devera was in the thick of the action, the defender also seeing a flicked header find the side netting.

There was a real spring in the step of the home players and they looked really up for the fight.

But Chesterfield gradually got into the game and struck on 20 minutes, Dean Smalley tapping into an empty net after on-loan keeper Sam Walker had pushed a Craig Davies shot right into his path.

Barnet responded quite well, their heads certainly not dropping.

Izale McLeod made room for himself, cutting inside, but his shot was deflected and the Spireites escaped.

With ten minutes of the first half to go, Mark Marshall found himself in the clear after a stumble from Dean Holden, but he dallied and never even got a shot in.

However, it should have been two to Chesterfield soon after, Dean Morgan shooting wide with just the keeper to beat after a Davies flick-on.

The second half was less than a minute old when the Spireites did hit their second, and it was a beauty, Davies curling the ball into the top corner from a central position.

But the Bees were back into it after 52 minutes, sub Sam Deering firing into the roof of the net from 20 yards.

It was just as good as Davies' strike and sparked wild celebrations on the home bench.

Hope had been restored again.

With the crowd spurring them on, Barnet were now in full swing and Kabba drove just wide midway through the second half.

But Chesterfield weathered the storm and Davies should have put the result beyond doubt with a minute of normal time to go, but shot wide after being put clean through.

At the other end, sub Charlie Stimson saw the keeper push over a drive as the game entered seven minutes of stoppage time.

Barnet were throwing everyone forward and they gained their reward.

Deering got to the right and crossed. Chesterfield keeper Tommy Lee thought the ball was going out and left it, only to see it find the back of the net.
