Hendon U18s suffered a second upset defeat in three matches as they slipped to a 1–0 Cheshunt Youth League defeat at the hands of Apoel.

Hendon started slowly and were made to pay after 15 minutes when their hosts scored what proved to be the only goal.

A stern half-time talk had the desired effect on Hendon, who took control of the game.

The only area of the pitch, however, where they were not on top was in the Apoel penalty area, as Hendon failed to convert any of the five excellent chances they created.

Joint manager Jason Fevrier said: “If we had taken our chances in the second half we could have buried them. We should have scored five times. It was a harsh lesson learned and I hope the players will take it into their next game, the Lucas Fettas (Ryman League) Youth Cup tie at Northwood on Thursday (today). My man of the match was central defender Shelto NENE, who was excellent throughout the game.”
