It has been a fantastic week for Finchley & District ABC.
The club gained a hat-trick of London boxing champions and a brace of junior North West Division champions, as well as four other winners at club shows.
At the London Championships in Dagenham, Norris Thompson (welterweight) saw off George O’Mahony after a pulsating contest to become London ABA champion.
Next up for Finchley was Ben Illeyemi, the reigning National Novice champion at heavyweight. His bout with Will Bryne brought the packed arena to its feet, as the Finchley man took control in the last round to emerge a worthy winner.
The third champion was Anthony Joshua - the two-time reigning ABA super heavyweight champion. Joshua saw off National Novice champion Joseph Joyce to make it a hat-trick.
Earlier in the week, at the Junior championship of the North West Division of the London ABAs, Jake Foley, 17, took the light middleweight championship by completely outboxing John Rhone. In the light flyweight division, Adam Chaima won his title by also outclassing his opponent.
There were also club wins for Jim Morris and Eunis Chaima.
