BARNET players were “shattered, on the floor” after a painful narrow defeat tonight, according to boss Paul Fairclough.
The Underhill outfit belied their lowly status in League Two by dominating promotion-chasing Wycombe Wanderers.
But there was heartache as the visitors plundered maximum points, via Chris Westwood's header in first half injury time.
“It’s about taking your chances,” said Fairclough afterwards.
“I thought our performance in the first half was outstanding, against a team which are probably going to get automatic promotion.
“We made one mistake from the corner (for the goal), but by that stage we should have been two goals in front. It was a big blow to come in at half time after the shift we put in."
