Hendon have two matches on the slate this week as they continue to try to put the disappointing February behind them, writes David Ballheimer.
On Saturday, they are in Ryman League Premier Division action at home to Aveley, the match at Vale Farm kicking off at 3pm.
The Greens have already played the Millers in Essex, winning 2–0 thanks to goals from Michael Peacock and Greg Ngoyi.
Last season, Hendon completed a League double over Aveley, winning 4–1 at Vale Farm, Dave Diedhiou, James Bent, Danny Dyer and Peter Dean scoring, while the return ended 2–1 to the Greens, Casey Maclaren and Dean scoring.
Aveley, like Hendon, saw their game postponed on Saturday and they remain just inside the relegation zone, in 19th place, though they are behind Hastings only on goal difference.
On Tuesday night, Hendon play in the semi-final of the Middlesex Senior Cup when they travel to take on Staines Town at the Wheatsheaf Stadium, kick-off 7.45.
Staines are currently 10th in the Blue Square Bet (Conference) South division, this their second campaign in level two of English non-league football.
The teams last met in competitive action in the 2008–09 season when Staines won both fixtures 2–0.
Staines drew 1–1 with Dorchester Town at the weekend. To reach the last four, Hendon have beaten Enfield Town 3–2, Wingate & Finchley 3–2, after extra time, and Hampton & Richmond Borough 1–0, the latter two away from home.
Staines have seen off the challenges from Uxbridge 6–2 and Wealdstone 3–2 on penalties after a 3–3 draw. In the final the winners will play the winners of the Hayes & Yeading United and Bedfont Town tie at Harrow Borough’s Earlsmead ground on Easter Monday evening, 25 April, at 7.45 pm.
