Barnet Elizabethans achived a good away win at Wasps on Saturday although they were narrowly denied a fourth try which would have given them a bonus point.

Nevertheless, they are still in third place and still chasing the league leaders. More worryingly for the Byng Road side, however, are the injuries they picked up, with captain Peter Moulton (ankle), Cos Harris (neck and head) and David Leadbitter (hamstring) all having to come off, Harris' injury being inflicted in an off the ball incident.

Barnet had secured their victory with two well-taken tries by their top scorer Glyn Bayley midway through the first half; the fist from a blindside move with a deft chip through by prop Jamie Wise for the winger to chase and touch down.

The second was a direct chip ahead and chase by Bayley. That try was converted by Jonny Hart whose earlier conversion attempt had rebounded off the crossbar.

Barnet should have been further ahead by half-time but took some wrong options in the first 40 minutes when their backs and forwards were on top throughout.

After the break, Wasps had some moves of their own but few that caused Elizabethans any problem.

Midway through the half, Hart kicked a penalty goal and Barnet sensed victory was theirs in the final quarter: firstly, a forward's drive saw Jonny Wilkins driven over for the third try.

The visitors' pack went for the vital fourth try, pushing Wasps back fully thirty metres, but Wilkins could not make the touchdown that would have given them the extra point.
