Barnet Copthall Swimming Club hosted its annual Winter Sprints meet and demonstrated its local dominance in the process. The club’s swimmers aged between nine and 14 years won in excess of 150 medals with 55 of them gold.
There were strong performances across the age groups but it was Barnet Copthall’s nine year olds that were completely dominant in the pool, winning every single available medal in their age group. Five youngsters shared the gold medals: William Chapman, Sophia Godfrey, Lottie Bell, Petar Djordjic and Lile Cornwell.
Barnet Copthall coach Andrew Swanston praised his swimmers.
“Our youngest competitive swimmers have done extremely well. Hopefully this is just the start of a successful swimming career but more immediately they will focus on success at next month’s Middlesex County Championships. "Every year Barnet Copthall Swimming Club looks to identify and nurture new talent and this year appears to be no different.”
