Barnet picked up another point in their battle for survival at windy Sixfields this afternoon.
Though the Bees need to start winning in order to avoid the drop, this was an encouraging performance, the visitors good value for the draw.
Chances were at a premium, though both teams did hit the woodwork.
Barnet boss Paul Fairclough made one change from the side that started the game at Aldershot on Tuesday night, with Steve Kabba coming in for Mauro Vilhete up front.
The first chance fell to the Bees, but Izale McLeod, after cutting inside and getting himself into a good shooting position, sliced his effort well off target.
It was a good start by the visitors and the hosts, who hit six on Tuesday, struggled to stamp their authority on the game.
The Cobblers had to wait until midway through the first half for their first opening, Josh Walker curling a free-kick just wide.
Barnet almost took the lead a few minutes later. A Mark Marshall corner was met by Clovis Kamdjo, but his effort was cleared off the line. In the ensuing scramble, McLeod saw a close-range header strike the woodwork, but somehow Northampton managed to clear the danger.
Though the Cobblers came more into the game towards the end of the first half, it was a decent opening 45 minutes from the Bees, only lacking a goal.
However, the hosts almost struck at the start of the second half. A superb Paul Rogers cross was met by Billy McKay, but he saw his effort from eight yards hit the underside of the crossbar and bounce out.
With 20 minutes to go, Barnet keeper Jake Cole pulled off a superb save to keep out a Ryan Gilligan glancing header, Northampton looking much more of a threat in the second period.
But the Bees were still looking dangerous at the other end too, and Fairclough threw on striker Mauro Vilhete for midfielder Tommy Fraser, still believing all three points were there for the taking.
However, neither side could find a winner and chances became fewer in the closing stages.
