The Finchley Racers got into top gear last week, starting off with Edgar Medellin scoring a solo win at the Hillingdon circuit. On Saturday, it was Trevor Burke's turn to shine at the Herne Hill Velodrome, with a second, third and then fifth in the final 25 miles' race. In the evening, Caroline Harding took 12th place at the Smithfield Nocturne, riding against the best women racers in Britain. More success followed on Sunday, at the Eastern Track Championships held at the Welwyn Velodrome, with Burke placing second in the Pursuit, then winning the Sprint Event with George Olive second. Burke then retained his 10 mile championship, ably assisted by new track star Vince Divine.
Harding followed up her Saturday-night performance with fourth in the Ladies/Youth Omnium event.
