Wingate & Finchley 1 Enfield Town 4
Southern League Division One East
Four goals in the final 20 minutes turned this game on its head.
Wingate, still looking for their first league win, actually took the lead just after the interval, but were unable to capitalise on the advantage, though the final score somewhat flattered the visitors.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, the Blues got the second half off to a flying start. Just four minutes had elapsed when Danny Boateng broke through the Town defence and cracked in the opener from the edge of the box.
The hosts had further opportunities to extend their lead and were eventually made to pay for not taking their chances.
The equaliser came in the 71st minute when Lee Smith was brought down in the box, with Rudi Hall converting the resultant penalty.
Within three minutes, Town were in front, Dean Nyman poking the ball home at the near post from a Matt Negus cross.
With Wingate forced to push forward in the closing stages, the Blues were twice undone in the final few minutes through sub Niall Ritchie.
Wingate & Finchley travel to Barking & East Ham this Saturday.
Waltham Forest 1 Potters Bar Town 1
Potters Bar gained their second point of the season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Essex.
Andy Milne's side made a sluggish start to the game with a goalline clearance keeping the home team out as early as the sixth minute. But they began to settle after the first quarter of an hour and made a contest of things for the remainder of the match.
But it was another sloppy goal that gave their hosts the lead on 22 minutes, with Richard Georgiou capitalising on a rather static Town defence to score with a relatively simple finish.
The lead lasted just four minutes, however. A cross into the home box was handled and Neil Jordan thumped home the resultant penalty.
The better chances in the remainder of the first half went the way of the Scholars. Andy Martin unleashed a 30-yard drive that went over and Sherwin Stanley saw a header cleared from the line.
The second period was just shaded by the home side but their best chance, a rasping shot on the turn by Wesley Thomas, was excellently tipped over by Neil Tillotson.
With just three minutes remaining, Town could have nicked a seemingly unlikely victory but Daniel Gabriel saw two close-range efforts blocked.
