The Bees began their pre-season schedule with a trip to St Albans City on Tuesday night, coming home 1-0 winners.
Trialist Ryan Hall hit a stunning winner midway through the second half, but had his night ruined by injury.
The winger had to go off shortly after finding the net for the Bees.
Manager Paul Fairclough fielded a strong side for the first half, with Joe Devera named as captain. Regular skipper Ismail Yakubu missed the match due to a slight thigh strain.
But, after the break, Fairclough changed things completely, giving a number of trialists a run-out.
Danny Hart was the only outfield player who took to the field for the second period to have experienced first-team football with the Bees.
Hall showed much promise and could be a useful replacement for winger Jason Puncheon, who has joined Plymouth Argyle.
The 20-year-old is an ex-Crystal Palace player.
