Barnet recorded successive National League wins this week, after defeat on the opening day of the season, with a 1-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers at The Hive on Tuesday.

After a 2-1 win at Ebbsfleet United on Saturday, Zak Brunt’s injury time winner sealed the points for the Bees following a frustrating 90 minutes against a low block.

“I’m delighted with our patience. They’re a really tough team to play against. Super well organised, especially defensively,” Brennan told the club’s website.

“Their front two work extremely hard, and their organisation was outstanding. Obviously, they’re coming here trying to frustrate us, but we were brilliant.

"Our aim was not to give them any corners or any entries because they’re a very big side. They’ve got a lot of experience with their manager as well. All in all, it was a fantastic performance.

“What we’ve got to do really well, and it’s important our supporters understand the way we play, we’re building dominance. So they can’t get frustrated when we don’t shoot or we don’t shoot in certain scenarios because we don’t want teams to counter attack on us.

"We’re going to look to control most games, so there will be some days where our players are a little bit more direct.”

Despite the opening defeat to Halifax Town, Brennan insists his side have been in control of their games throughout the early stages of the season.

“We’ve been dominant in the first three games of the season. I said today that we should have won by six at Ebbsfleet, in my opinion,” he added.

“We should've won at Halifax. We should've gotten out of there with a victory. Our performance deserved it.

"Today our focus was really good and we never took any chances away. There were a couple of sloppy moments where they got in good areas. We didn’t move the ball well enough or progress the ball well enough. We’re going to have those situations in games. To not give up a corner, I'm sure they didn’t have a corner! That’s impressive.

“That happened several times last year as well, but that’s important for us because we’ve got so many technical players. The squad was stretched today. The lads have come in, and Shelts (Mark Shelton) made a big impact when he came on.

"I thought Chapman when he came on was outstanding, he’s a classy player. Reece came on and gave us pace. Nik Tavares had a start. He can play sitting midfield. He can play centre half and is a real good addition to our squad.”

The Bees will look to continue their winning run when they host Southend United on Saturday before travelling to Kent to face Maidenhead United on Bank Holiday Monday.
