Hendon manager Gary McCann said there was nothing he could do to prevent striker Davis Haule from joining Ryman League Premier Division rivals Staines Town.

He said: "We did everything in our power to keep Davis at the club, but the offer he was made by Staines was far too good to turn down.

"We'd like to thank Davis for his efforts since he returned to the club 18 months ago, especially in the final month of last season as we made that final push for the play-offs. He goes with our very best wishes for the future."

Haule made 147 appearances in his two spells at the club, scoring 27 goals.

McCann added: "What this transfer has done, however, is release funds so that we can add some much-needed strength to the squad. I have been speaking to a number of players, and supporters can expect to see some new faces in the pre-season friendlies."

Also leaving Claremont Road is Sam Page, who has signed for Horsham.

He made 44 appearances for the club during two spells.

Goalkeeper Richard Wilmot joined Cambridge City last week.
