BADMINTON: Barnet's first badminton club for people with disabilities has re-launched at Barnet Burnt Oak Leisure Centre.
The club, which has already seen growing numbers in the past 12 months, has merged with the recently-formed Barnet Badminton Club in order to provide badminton opportunities across the borough.
The club, which is open every Wednesday evening between 5pm and 7pm, will cater for anyone aged over 16 who has a disability. All are welcome.
Tamsin Graveson, Middlesex Badminton development officer, said: "The success to date of the Barnet Badminton Club for disabled people is extremely encouraging and illustrates a major aim of BADMINTON England's to further encourage badminton as a sport for all.
"It would be great to see continued interest in the club and increased participation with a view to link the activity to the up-and -coming Barnet Community Badminton Network in the near future."
The badminton club is supported by GLL, Barnet Council, BADMINTON England and the London Sports Forum for Disabled People.
There will be no charge to use the club for the next two weeks but there will be a pay-and-play cost from Wednesday, June 25.

RUGBY UNION: Barnet Elizabethans have a new first-team captain.
Peter Moulton will replace Mike Healy who is standing down after four successful seasons in charge.
Moulton is normally a number eight forward, though is also a versatile three-quarters' player.
He will be hoping for a better season, as the last one was interrupted by injury.
Moulton has plenty of experience, having also represented Hertfordshire in recent seasons.
The club held their summer ball on Saturday, with a number of awards also being handed out.
Ricky Stevens was player of the year, while Glyn Bailey was top try scorer.
It was also a good night for Jamie Kirby. He was named the second team's player of the year and received an Honours Cap.
CYCLING: Finchley Racing's John McMillan stole the limelight at the weekend.
Riding near Guildford in the Kingston Classic over 52 miles, McMillan was present in every breakaway attempt in a lively race with over 40 starters.
As the finish line approached, McMillan took off at about two miles from home, holding a short lead even up the fearsome hill on which the race concluded.
Other Finchley Racers were in action at the Elite Smithfield Nocturne on Saturday night, where Werner Otto finished in the top 15, and the Beccles 81-miler, with Vince Divine just missing the top ten in 11th place.
SQUASH: Barnet squash star Alison Waters will take on England number six and world number 21 Dominique Lloyd-Walter in an exhibition match at Finchley Manor Squash Club on July 17.
Waters is the current British champion and world number 11.
As a curtain raiser, Lloyd-Walter will also play New Zealander Peter Goodman.
The event will be in support of Evelina Children's Hospital at Guys and St Thomas' NHS Trust.
