SKIING: Ten-year-old ski racer Robert Poth is another step closer to his dream of skiing at the Winter Olympics, after notching another championship title.

The British U11 indoor ski race champion from Potters Bar has just returned from Merible, France, where he was competing at the British Children's Alpine Ski Race Championships with his ski race club, Team Slalom Plus.

He took part in two giant slalom races, with over 60 competitors from Britain, Switzerland, Czech Republic and France in his age category.

After the two race results were combined, Robert was second overall and first-placed British ski racer in the U11 age group. This result concludes a fantastic ski racing season for Robert, having won gold at the BARSC Championships at Les Menuires, France, in January.

He also stormed to a double gold at the English Alpine Championships in Italy the following month.

Robert also had the honour of representing Les Arcs Ski Club, France, along with older brother Daniel.

The brothers were selected to join the team to compete at the Etoile D'or in Megeve, after being spotted by the prestigious club, as the pair trained on the pistes of Les Arcs.

Robert came fourth at this event, in which more than 290 French children competed. Both brothers qualified to go straight to the finals of the Coq D'or events in Les Menuires, which are the national championships for French children.
