Amelia Hazard scored one and set up another as London Bees saw off London City Lionesses at Princes Park.

Ellie Wilson gave the visitors the lead before Hazard doubled their advantage to give the Bees their first win in nine games.

The visitors started well, Bonnie Horwood’s dipping shot landing on the roof of the net and they took the lead in the 10th minute, Hazard’s delightful pass freeing Wilson who calmly slotted home.

Hazard then doubled the lead in the 19th minute, touching home from a yard after Lucy Thomas fumbled Merrick Will’s cross.

The Lionesses came back but set-pieces looked like the only way they were going to score, as a goal-line scramble saw multiple efforts cleared off the line from a corner in the 27th minute.

And two minutes later, another corner almost went straight in, denied by Sarah Quantrill’s sharp reflexes.

Flo Fyfe’s delivery continued to wreak havoc, her free-kick well saved by Quantrill before Vyan Sampson’s rebound was cleared off the line by Georgia Robert.

At the other end, Horwood had two free-kicks within shooting range, but her efforts were unable to cause Thomas any problems.

Courtnay Ward-Chambers was unable to put the game to bed in the second half, her volley from Hazard’s lovely cross drifting wide and missing a chance late on.
