Hendon produced arguably their performance of the season as they thrashed play-off outsiders Weston-super-Mare 4-0 on Saturday.
Luke Tingey, Liam Brooks, Joseph Felix and Sam Corcoran were all on the scoresheet for the Greens as they won a Southern League Premier Division South game for the first time in over a month.
Defender Tingey opened the scoring on 29 minutes when the ball was curled towards him in the area, and be brought it down before lashing into the roof of the net.
Brooks added Hendon’s second shortly before the hour mark when he sublimely flicked the ball over his head, brought it down and produced an emphatic finish past the keeper.
Four minutes later, Brooks turned provider as he ran into the penalty area from the left and teed up Felix for his first Greens goal.
The icing on the cake was provided with 15 minutes remaining, albeit fortuitously, as Corcoran’s drive bounced back off the post but hit goalkeeper Luke Purnell on the back of the head and rolled in.
Success for Hendon closed the gap on both Hartley Wintney and Walton Casuals after they both failed to win. Their next game sees them visit Needham Market in the quarter-final of the CSS League Cup tomorrow night. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
