A much changed Barnet side scored four goals in nine minutes against Wembley to make it through to the third round of the Middlesex Senior Cup last night.
Despite having Darnell Smith sent off on the stroke of half-time, that dismissal didn’t seem to affect the Bees too much and they sealed their progression to the next round of the competition by the hour mark.
Dan Sparkes put John Still’s side ahead five minutes after the restart when he curled a fantastic free-kick into the back of the net from the edge of the area and it was two moments later when Shaq Coulthirst was on hand to turn home Martyn Box’s cross.
Jack Barham made it three in the 57th minute when he rose highest to head home Sparkes’ cross and the latter would double his tally on the hour mark with a diving header.
The Bees had further chances to increase their advantage with Ephron Mason-Clark, Rio Connell and Zaied Sabti all coming close to getting their names on the scoresheet.
But it was Wembley who would convert the fifth and final goal of the game, as they notched a consolation when Jermaine Heron’s dipping strike beat Rihards Matrevics.
