Former Barnet manager Martin Allen is on the brink of taking over at Chesterfield just a week after leaving the Hive, according to reports.
Allen returned to Barnet for a fifth spell as manager in March but despite winning five of his eight games in charge, it wasn’t enough to save the Bees from relegation from League 2.
But it now appears that Allen will make a return to the Hive next season with Chesterfield, with reports claiming this afternoon that the 52-year-old is set to take over the managerial reigns at the Proact Stadium.
Chesterfield were also relegated to the National League having finished bottom of League 2, with Allen’s Barnet beating the Spireites 3-0 on the final day of the season.
