Wingate and Finchley were knocked out of the FA Cup in the second qualifying round after a 2-1 extra-time defeat in a replay against Hemel Hempstead Town.
After a goalless draw at Vauxhall Road on Saturday, Wingate had home advantage during last night's replay and the Bostik Premier Division side got off to an excellent start as they took the lead through Reece Beckles-Richards after five minutes, with the striker rifling the ball home from close range.
Hemel rallied after going behind with Rowan Liburd forcing goalkpeer Shane Gore into a fine save in the 35th minute.
But the National League South side were back on level terms ten minutes after half-time, with former Watford man Jordan Parkes curling an excellent free-kick into the top corner.
Back came the home side though, with substitute Afolabi Obafemi going close on two occasions, but neither side was able to find a second goal before the final whistole.
Keith Rowland’s men were to have their hearts broken in extra-time though, as Hemel’s Alex Osborn scored the winner in the 109th minute, slipping the ball past Gore following a mazy run to end Wingate and Finchley’s involvement in the competition for another season.
