Assistant coach Gary Waddock has stressed Barnet must play to the conditions when they travel to Rodney Parade to face Newport County this evening.
The Exiles’ pitch isn’t in the best condition and that led to a postponement against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup earlier this season.
However, Warren Feeney’s side have not been troubled by the pitch and are unbeaten in their last four at home, winning their last three.
Speaking to the club’s website, Waddock said: “I believe the pitch isn’t in the best condition that it could be.
“Obviously they’ll be used to that, but we have to play the conditions as well.
“It will be a tough encounter, but we want to make sure that we go down there and put on a performance.
“We want to get back on form and get some points on the board again.”
Newport have moved 11 points clear of the League Two relegation zone under the guidance of former Luton Town and Cardiff City striker Feeney.
The 35-year-old had been assistant boss to John Sheridan before he left to take up the reins at League One strugglers Oldham Athletic.
Exiles keeper Joe Day has been impressed by the former Northern Ireland international and told the South Wales Argus: “He’s a really positive person and that’s reflected on the players. We’re playing without fear and with positivity.
“We’ve got that steeliness about us now where we’re grinding out results, and I think it’s down to the hard work he’s trying to instil in us.
“That hard work and determination is getting us results.
“He’s a positive character and the club is a good place to be with him because he does have a joke with the lads, but you know when you’ve just got to be serious and get down to business.
“We’ve got that confidence now with getting used to playing with each other.
“We are a lot more settled now with the manager and I think we’re feeling a lot more comfortable.”
The Bees are without Graham Stack (groin), Gavin Hoyte (knee), Bira Dembele (knee), Michael Gash (hamstring), Shaun Batt and Chris Hackett (knee).
