Ryman League Division One North round-up Wingate & Finchley 2 Great Wakering Rovers 1 Wingate & Finchley rounded off their home campaign on a winning note, gaining quick revenge for their heavy defeat against Great Wakering the previous Tuesday.
Danny Berg hit the winner, converting a penalty two minutes from time, after Leon Osei was hauled down in the box.
The Blues had to come from a goal behind, with Rovers breaking the deadlock six minutes before half-time, Martin Touhy beating the offside trap and spotting keeper Ed Thompson well off his line.
Wingate were determined not to send their supporters away with a defeat and were dominant in the second half, with Craig Ellis skimming the post two minutes in.
The Blues equalised when Osei charged down the flank and crossed for Matthew Batt to score at the second attempt, after his initial bicycle kick rebounded off the bar.
Osei was now terrorising the home defence and it was not surprising he should earn Berg the chance to seal the three points.
Wingate, in a comfortable ninth position in the table, travel to Arlesey Town for their final game this Saturday.
Canvey Island 2 Potters Bar Town 0 Potters Bar Town were beaten by a strong Canvey Island side at Park Lane on Saturday.
The promotion-chasing Islanders have a number of players with higher-league experience and this was always going to be a tough test.
Manager Andy Leese said: "I thought we played pretty well in the circumstances. We were without a number of our senior experienced players which meant the team virtually picked itself.
"We still had chances after they scored their second, but it was not our day."
Town, who included a number of youngsters, held out until two minutes after the break, Matt Reade finishing from close range.
And the Scholars were still in the game until a solo goal from Ryan Edgar finally wrapped up the points in the 75th minute.
Mid-table Potters Bar conclude their league campaign with a home game against Maldon Town on Saturday.
