Hendon have all but confirmed their safety from relegation with two excellent wins over the Easter weekend. The Greens need only one point from their final four fixtures to make themselves mathematically safe.
Only a remarkable run of results from the bottom three teams could now see Hendon go down.
Harrow Borough 1 Hendon 2 Ryman League Premier Division
A fine second half performance against Harrow on Monday saw the Claremont Road side take home the three points.
Harrow started brightly and Richard Wilmot was forced to make a superb save after just eight minutes. The home side opened the scoring when Bobby Highton struck a superb shot inside the right post. But they held the lead for only ten minutes.
Jamie Busby's curled corner was met by a punch from Harrow keeper Ashlee Jones, who collided with Dean Green. The ball ricocheted away and fell at the feet of Marc Leach. The centre-half's drive was blocked by a Borough defender, but he angled the rebound into the net to level the scores.
Hendon looked the more likely to score as the second half progressed, but Harrow's dangerous 4-2-4 counter-attacking style meant the game could have gone either way.
The away side's winner eventually came in the 81st minute after Davis Haule was sent crashing to the ground in the area. The referee, spotting that Hendon still had the ball, allowed an advantage to be played, and Brian Haule's perfectly timed diagonal pass found Craig Vargas. The full-back hit a low cross in front of the sticks, and Wayne O'Sullivan side-footed the ball into the net.
Manager Gary McCann said: "I thought this was another very professional performance. James Burgess, Craig Vargas, James Parker and Marc Leach were all magnificent and Richard Wilmot kept us in the game with some vital saves."
Last Saturday, the Greens beat Horsham 2-0 at Claremont Road, with both goals coming from Belal Aiteouakrim.
Hendon's next game is at home to Heybridge Swifts this Saturday, before Staines Town visit Claremont Road on Monday.
