The Times Series understands Barnet are close to signing former Leyton Orient forward Kevin Lisbie following his release by the O’s.
Lisbie, 36, was informed he would not be offered a new contract with the east London outfit earlier this month and has held talks with Martin Allen about joining the Bees.
It is understood that although the deal is not yet completed, the former Charlton Athletic, Ipswich Town and Colchester United striker is close to agreeing to join Barnet.
Lisbie netted 46 times in 97 league starts for Orient after joining in 2011 and became a fans’ favourite at Brisbane Road.
The 2013/14 campaign was his best with the O’s, scoring 16 times in 38 league starts before losing in the Play-Off Final to Rotherham United on penalties, missing out on a return to the Championship.
The Hackney-born hitman began his professional career with Charlton Athletic and made more than 100 appearances for the Addicks – a number of which came in the Premier League – before joining Colchester United in 2007.
Lisbie wasted no time settling into life in Essex and after netting 17 times in 39 league starts for the U’s earned a £600,000 switch to Ipswich Town in 2008 following Colchester’s relegation.
But he could not replicate his form in Suffolk and was loaned back to Colchester the following season – scoring 13 in 40 – before a loan stint with Millwall in 2010/11.
And that summer he joined Orient and scored 12 times in his maiden campaign with the O’s. A return of 16 in each of his next two seasons saw him became a firm favourite at Brisbane Road.
However, a combination of injury and the managerial merry-go-round at the club saw him fall out of favour last term, scoring twice in just five league starts prior to his departure.
A full Jamaican international, Lisbie has represented the Reggae Boyz on ten occasions, scoring twice.
