Barnet assistant head coach Ulrich Landvreugd believes last season’s top scorer Jake Hyde will still be at the club when the Bees’ Conference Premier campaign begins on August 10.
Hyde made his first pre-season start last night against Hendon and scored Barnet’s opening goal in their 4-1 victory.
The 23-year-old handed in a transfer request earlier in the summer but Landvreugd believes the striker will remain with the Bees.
“I think Hyde will be with us at the beginning of the season,” Landvreugd said.
“He did well for us last season and has good qualities. If he does leaves then that gives opportunities to George Sykes and Harry Crawford.”
Against the Greens, it was a much-changed Barnet side to that which was beaten 1-0 by Ipswich on Saturday.
Only one of the players who started against the Tractor Boys featured against Hendon and when asked if he and Davids have a clear idea of their starting XI, Landvreugd answered: “We have a clear idea but if somebody impresses us in pre-season then they will get their opportunity.
"It is not about their name or age it is about who fits in the team.
“Somebody could have a couple of bad weeks and then someone else who is doing well gets their chance to play.”
