Edgar Davids felt his Barnet side matched Ipswich Town throughout their 1-0 pre-season friendly defeat at The Hive.
A goal from David McGoldrick sealed victory for the Tractor Boys but it was the Bees who created the better chances throughout the contest.
Mark Byrne missed a penalty while Ipswich goalkeeper Scott Loach pulled off good saves to deny Curtis Weston and Andy Yiadom.
Trialists Luisma and Roberto both impressed, with the latter firing inches wide in the closing minutes.
Speaking after the game, Davids said: “I’m very pleased. Ipswich are a Championship side and to match them for most of the game says a lot about the team.
“We didn’t win the game but I am happy with how we performed.
“We would have been delighted to get a win in the first game here but you need to look at the progression.
“Sometimes you can win 1-0 or 2-0 and not see the things you want to see. When I look at this game we really matched them and sometimes outplayed them.
“That is very important for us and helps us prepare for a very competitive Conference division.”
