Hendon continued their positive start to pre-season as they beat Conference South side Maidenhead United 3-1 on at The Hive on Tuesday evening.

Conditions were more comfortable than on Saturday afternoon but it was still warm enough for the game to stop midway through each half for a water break.

Unusally for early pre-season, there were no new faces in the Hendon line-up with just Warren Goodhind and Michael Murray the only two players who didn't take part at Tring.

The game started brightly with both sides having half-chances, and Mike McEntegart in the Hendon goal had to make two good saves low down to his left hand side.

It was the Magpies who took the lead midway through the first half when McEntegart was well beaten by a fine free kick.

However, this spurred the Greens on and it wasn't long until the equaliser came, Tony Taggart headed home after being set up by Aaron Morgan.

Shortly before the break Anthony Thomas made a jinking run into the box and slid the ball past the keeper at the second attempt to give Hendon a 2-1 lead.

The two sides made a total of 19 substitutions at half-time.

Ten minutes into the second period, Scott Cousins delivered a fine free kick into the box which was finished off nicely by Dave Diedhiou.

It was the visitors who had the better chances in the remainder of the game but the Greens defence held firm and Berkley Laurencin was left largely untested.

After the game Anthony Thomas, formerly with Wingate & Finchley, and defender Brandon Horner, a former Watford youngster both signed for the club along with Isaiah Rankin who starts his third season as a Hendon player.
