Edgar Davids said he saw a lot of good things during Barnet’s 3-1 pre-season victory against St Albans City but insisted was still plenty of room for improvement.
Goals from Andy Yiadom, Harry Crawford and Mauro Vilhete ensured the Bees got their warm-up fixtures off to a winning start.
It was a routine pre-season display with several players getting minutes on the pitch, although Mark Byrne, Elliot Johnson, Yiadom, David Stephens and Harry Crawford all played the full match.
Speaking after the game, Davids said: “It is nice to start with a win. I saw a lot of good things but also things we can improve on. But I like what I saw and we will have to build on that.”
New Bees signing Anthony Acheampong made his first appearance for the club since joining from Welling United and Davids was pleased with his performance.
He added: “He did very well. He fits into the squad and looks like he’s been here a while. He has blended in very smoothly.”
