Finchley are through to the second round of the Conference Cup after they completed a resounding 118-run win against Fives and Heronians on Sunday.

Finchley won the toss and elected to bat. It proved the right decision as openers Majed Ali and Jake Milton both impressed.

Ali reached 65 before being dismissed, while Milton scored 76. Sohail Idrees, in at number three, continued the strong batting performance and he also reached 76.

Hassan Khan posted 33 and Finchley reached an imposing total of 277 for six from their 45 overs.

It proved too much for Fives to overcome and they fell well short of their target as their innings ended on 159. The previous day Finchley suffered a heavy 172-run defeat against Hampstead in Division One.

Hampstead batted first and posted an impressive total of 277 for nine from their 60 overs.

The Finchley innings started poorly and they were never in a position to challenge their opponents. Finchley were all out with just 105 on the scoreboard.
