Wingate & Finchley manager Gary Meakin is to leave the club this week after just seven months in charge.

Meakin joined the club from Northwood as a replacement for Dave Norman and was charged with keeping the club in the Ryman Premier Division.

He completed his objective with the Blues finishing 18th in the table. However, chairman Aron Sharpe confirmed on Tuesday that Meakin will depart this week.

He said: "Gary and I have spoken in depth about the club requirements going forward - the club has a particular pathway that it wishes to follow.

"These requirements were not in synch with Gary's vision, so I decided that it was best for the club to release Gary from the manager's role and that he pursue his goals elsewhere.

“The directive when Gary arrived was to maintain our status in the Ryman Premier League, and Gary achieved all that was asked of him which the club shall always be grateful for.

“I would like on behalf of all at the club to thank Gary for his extremely hard work in his time at Wingate & Finchley.

"Gary is a fine young manager who I am certain shall be a huge success at whatever club is fortunate to have him."
