Judging by these striking images, Barnet FC’s new home at The Hive is shaping up to be arguably the most impressive ground in non-league football.

Stadium constructors GL Slick Seating have tweeted pictures showing the gradual construction of the main stand at the football centre, in Camrose Avenue, Edgware.

The club suffered last-gasp heartbreak when it dropped out of the Football League on the final day of the season but fans might have something to smile about when they see how the new stadium is coming together.

Seating in the main stand has now been fully installed and work has begun constructing the fans’ area underneath.

Two existing terraces behind each goal, one of which will be designated for away fans, are also being refurbished, while executive seating on the east side of the ground is yet to be installed.

The pitch itself has been levelled and laid, with ground staff using the same seed mix as that put down on Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

A fully automated sprinkler system will make the team’s work a little easier and surely makes The Hive one of the most high-tech grounds in non-league football.

The club says it will be announcing its pre-season schedule in the coming weeks and expects work on the ground to continue right up to the start of the season.

Doron Portnoi, from the club’s marketing and media department, said:  “It has been great to watch it coming together.

“We have a great big window which overlooks the stadium from our office so we’ve watched it transformed from an overgrown field to this – it’s been very interesting.

“We’re really excited to get finished here and we hope we can continue to build The Hive into a success, both on the pitch and off it.”
