Finchley were beaten by 79 runs against Winchmore Hill in Middlesex County League Division One.

After winning the toss, Finchley decided to bowl but it proved the wrong choice as the Hill openers scored freely.

Scott Newman struck 77 off 86 balls before he was trapped leg before wicket by Jake Milton, while Tom Ludlam reached a half-century before being caught by Sohail Idrees.

Number three Jim Gatting also scored 50 before he was caught by Frahan Butt from a Milton delivery.

Ryan Corns and Mark Barrell both added 21 runs and Hill ended on a strong total of 262 all out.

Finchley bowler Milton ended with four for 51 and Idrees claimed three for 41.

Finchley never got their innings going and their batsmen struggled to accumulate big totals.

Hassan Khan did hit 53 off 81 balls but he wasn’t supported, with the next highest score coming from Milton’s 21. Butt ended on 18 not out but Finchley were bowled out for 173 in the 55th over.

Jamie Thorpe performed well with the ball as he took three for 40, while De le Rey Terblanche secured three for 27. Ryan Corns ended on two for 18 and Tom Kopelman claimed one for 46.
