While there are only five miles between Underhill and The Hive many fans are boycotting the move due to it not being in the club’s ‘natural home’, with the ground being based in the neighbouring borough of Barnet.

Some fans have stated that they will not attend the club while they are based outside of Harrow which I feel is the wrong stance to take.

The ‘Back 2 Barnet’ campaign is one I support; but I disagree with the people who state that they will no longer watch Barnet due to the club relocating.

With us dropping into the Blue Square Premier we need every Barnet fan present at The Hive, regardless of their views.

Every fan needs to get behind the team and support the team on the pitch rather than protest by not coming – which is not good for any party involved.

Replicating the feel of Underhill will be almost impossible. However, us Barnet fans need to make The Hive a home feared by opponents in a short space of time.

This brings me onto an idea. Last weekend, I went to Selhurst Park to see Crystal Palace take on Peterborough United.

Situated behind the goal were the Crystal Palace ‘Ultras’. Not once did they stop singing and chanting rapturously at the top of their voices even when they conceded and were behind.

They played a major part in The Eagles coming from behind to win and is a significant factor in why they have only lost twice at home all season.

To make The Hive a home, setting up something akin to this may be an idea.

Not only will this make the ground a more intimidating place, it will help to create a setting which we can make a fortress and to make the transition from Underhill to The Hive as smooth as possible.

While the fans can play a big part on our fortunes; it is the board that have to make the decisions to help us return to the Football league as soon as possible.

With us waiting anxiously and impatiently for news on whether Edgar Davids will be staying at the club next year it reminds us of a situation all too recent and familiar.

Last summer, Martin “Mad Dog” Allen stated his desire to become manager on a permanent basis after keeping us in the Football League.

he decision to appoint Mark Robson instead of him is why we will be facing trips away to Braintree and Dartford next season and not Portsmouth and Plymouth.

We cannot make the same mistake two years running. Signing up Davids for next season must be sorted out quickly.

A new era beckons for us.

Hopefully with Davids at the helm and our fans out in force and creating an electric atmosphere at The Hive, we can make the transition to the new ground and non-league seamlessly.
