Finchley Racing Team’s Dermot Kealey’s winter training paid off as he secured a third-place finish in the Tour of the Gila event in America.
Kealey, pictured, was racing in the master’s category and despite crashing in three of the stages, he went into the final time trial in New Mexico in the hunt for a place on the podium.
He secured a second-place finish in scorching temperatures in the last stage, which was enough to secure his third position finish overall.
Closer to home, Simon Himes won his first race of the season at the Hillingdon circuit. Himes jumped away from the group with three laps remaining, leaving Edgar Medellin to disrupt the chasing bunch.
Andy Hasting finished in fifth place in the Stockbridge Downs Road Race. He was up against some of the best teams in the country and racing without any team mates.
Hasting made it into the winning break and made several attempts of trying to break away from the group. However, he couldn’t open up a gap and had to settle for fifth place.
