Barnet racing driver Liam Griffin continues to lead the Jack Sears Trophy in the British Touring Car Championship but suffered a mixed weekend in the third round of the series at Thruxton.

In the first of the three races, a committed passing manoeuvre late on in the race meant Griffin came out victorious in his class and extended his points advantage over his rivals Lea Wood and Joe Girling.

However, that was a good as it got for Griffin as an electrical problem caused him to pull off the track in the second round and damage caused by contact with another car brought about his demise in the day’s last race.

Wood won both of the races and now is equal with Griffin on points. It means the Barnet racer will have to score well at Oulton Park on June 9.
