Liverpool Under-21 manager and former Barnet striker Alex Inglethorpe has tipped the Bees to make an instant return to League Two following the club’s relegation from the Football League.

The 41-year-old saw his young side play out a 1-1 draw with Arsenal Reserves on Friday in the last competitive match to be staged at Barnet’s Underhill stadium.

Inglethorpe has fond memories of the club after a brief playing stint on loan with the Bees in the mid-nineties and has confidence regarding the club’s promotion prospects.

“I was here when Ray Clemence was the manager and Terry Bullivant was his number two and Dougie Freedman was up front,” he said.

“Although I think I only started five games here, it was a happy time, it was a happy month, it has always been a happy club and I’m sure they will bounce straight back.”

The former Spurs youth team coach said he had enjoyed his return to Underhill and believes the stadium still retains its old charm.

“It hasn’t changed. It’s still got a fantastic feel about the place,” he said.
