Tom Flanagan believes Barnet claimed a valuable point against Cheltenham Town and feels the result has put pressure on the teams who had matches called off.
At a snowy Underhill on Saturday the Bees were held to a 0-0 draw against the Robins.
Elsewhere across the country fellow League Two strugglers Aldershot Town, Plymouth Argyle and Rochdale were left frustrated as their fixtures were postponed
Some felt the Bees game should not have gone ahead due to the weather conditions but Flanagan, who is on loan from MK Dons, was in no doubt the match would be played.
He said: “I couldn’t see the game getting called off so then you sit in the dressing room and make sure you get your head right.
“You don’t want to be thinking ‘I hope this game is called off’ because then you are setting yourself up to lose.
“It wasn’t great with the conditions but we wanted to play rather than have a game in hand.
“It is another point on the tally and another point over the sides that didn’t play. So that puts a little bit more pressure on those sides.”
He continued: “I missed a couple of headers that I was disappointed with but then you look back and realise that it was blowing a gale and you’ve got snow in your eyes. So it is probably not the best day to head the ball.
“But you’ve got to be professional and we got through it. It is another clean sheet and a valuable point for us against a good side.
“You look at the list of fixtures and a lot of people would have thought that Cheltenham would beat us.
“So we look at that as a positive result. We are pleased with that and look forward to the next game.”
