Saracens boss Mark McCall showered praise on young prop Mako Vunipola and labelled the first 20 minutes of the Men in Black's win over Harlequins as "the Mako show".

Vunipola, who is being tipped for a call-up to the British Lions squad later this year, was instrumental in the early stages at Allianz Park as he powered his way through the Harlequins defence on more than one occasion.

"It was the Mako show wasn't it for the first 20 minutes?", McCall crowed. "He was pretty special today.

"The best thing he did was scrummage against James Johnston and (that's good) for a young prop which he is - he's only got 12 months in the Premiership behind him.

"We know he can do incredibly special things in the loose but he knows what he does in the tight is equally important and he did pretty well today in the tight.

"We all know by watching his performance how far he can go and will go."

Another promising player for the future was also given special praise by the Sarries director of rugby as flanker Will Fraser scored a try and put on another impressive display.

"It's hard to believe Will made his debut for us two Octobers ago - it's been 18 months since he's been playing first team rugby," McCall said.

"It was another big step for him going up against a very experienced back row again today and I thought he equipped himself very well."

The 27-12 win over Quins puts Sarries five points clear at the top of the Aviva Premiership with just four league matches to play but McCall insists there is still work to be done.

He added: "We know that our season didn't hinge on today.

"I think Harlequins lost to Leicester Tigers with three games to go last year and went on to be Premiership champions.

"Today was just important from a performance point of view and for our confidence."
