Wingate & Finchley remain embroiled in the fight for survival in the Ryman Premier Division and the Blues suffered a 1-0 defeat at Bognor Regis Town.
Wingate had started brightly and Spencer Bellotti forced Bognor goalkeeper Craig Stoner into an early save.
Both sides were comfortable in possession but struggled to create a clear chance to break the deadlock.
However, Bognor opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Terry Dodd escaped his marker and fired a shot into the top right corner.
Anthony Thomas came close for Wingate with a free-kick which narrowly missed the bottom corner and John Christian sent a volley wide.
In the second period, Hector Mackie broke with pace from the left wing. He cut inside and shot from a tight angle but the keeper parried well.
Bognor had threatened sporadically since going ahead but Simon Woods came close to doubling their advantage, only for Bobby Smith to produce a good stop.
Bellotti and Thomas missed further chances for the Blues but despite their best efforts, Wingate suffered defeat.
