Wingate and Finchley secured a 4-3 victory in their relegation clash at Cray Wanderers on Tuesday.
The game was well contested throughout and both sides missed several chances to open the scoring. Surprisingly the game was goalless at the break.
Seven minutes after the restart Spencer Bellotti and Ahmet Rifat combined to force the ball into the net for Wingate and then Anthony Thomas doubled the lead with a header.
Cray hit back as Leigh Bremner converted a penalty but Thomas restored the two-goal advantage when he smashed home a free-kick.
In the final ten minutes a Paul Booth penalty and James Fray strike levelled the game and Wingate had seemingly thrown away the three points.
But, in the dying moments, Spencer McCall slotted home from close range to secured an important win for Wingate.
