Hendon boss Gary McCann believes his side will go into this Saturday’s FA Cup first round clash against Aldershot Town refreshed and in a buoyant mood.
The Greens have not played since October 23 and will travel to the Recreation Ground hoping to claim a cup upset.
McCann thinks the break will have benefited his players and is looking forward to taking on the League Two side.
“The weekend off came at the right time for us,” the Greens manager explained. “We had quite a demanding two to three weeks so the fact that we didn’t have a game helped us.
“It has given our players who are carrying slight knocks time to recover and we gave the players the weekend off so they can come back refreshed.
“The players are in a buoyant mood but we know it will be a tough test.”
He continued: “We had a look at their game at the weekend against Dagenham and Redbridge and their match against Southend United.
“We have had plenty of discussions about how we will set up, how we will attack and how we will defend against them.
“We have to make sure we are at it from the first whistle because if we are not then we certainly will get punished.”
Hendon are set to take strong support to Aldershot and their are no spaces remaining on the fans coach.
While McCann stated that his side are travelling to the Shots in a positive mindset and looking for victory, he added he would be happy if his players forced a replay.
He said: “If somebody offered me a replay now, I would bite their hand off because then you will have them at your place in unfamiliar surroundings.
“But we will go there looking to win – no team goes into a match just looking to defend and sit back.
“To get to this stage by defeating Conference North and South teams means I think the supporters are proud.
“But of course we want to go to Aldershot and give a good account of ourselves.”
