Barnet’s best sporting talent was recognized at an award ceremony attended by Olympic heroes on Friday evening.

The 2012 Barnet School Sport Awards were held at Middlesex University’s Hendon Campus in The Burroughs.

School pupils joined staff and Olympic athletes to celebrate the achievements of those involved in school sport in the borough.

Guests included Lutalo Muhammad who won a bronze medal in the Taekwondo at this summer’s games, as well as Olympic fencer James Davis and former Olympian Julian Golding.

The prize for coach of the year went to Rohan Plunkett of Akiva School, a Jewish primary school in East End Road, Finchley.

The primary school team of the year award went to Foulds Primary School’s tag rugby team. Foulds Primary is based in Byng Road, Barnet.

Secondary school team of the year went to the Barnet Year 10 District Football Team.

Aaron Hammond of Bishop Douglass Roman School in Hamilton Road, Finchley, was awarded the prize for young performer of the year.
