Jewish Care is “proud” to have been chosen as Sainsbury’s, Golders Green’s charity of the year.
It has just been announced that the Finchley Road branch of the store will support the Golders Green based charity for the next year.
To kick start the partnership Jewish Care, which provides support to the Jewish community, and Sainsbury’s held a Jewish festival experience on Friday.
The event, which took place at the Sainsbury’s store, was organised to mark the up-coming Jewish New Year as well as to celebrate the start of the partnership.
At the event, staff from both organisations offered the public free samples of foods associated with the festival.
For the next year Sainsbury’s and Jewish Care will work together to raise money for the charity.
Members of Sainsbury’s staff will also give some of their free time to volunteer at Jewish Care where they will learn more about Jewish culture.
A spokesman at Jewish Care said: “It is amazing that a company as big as Sainsbury’s is supporting us.
“We applied to be their local charity of the year but never thought we would be selected.
"The money will be allocated to be used where it is most needed within the organisation."
Jewish Care offers support and care to the Jewish Community of London and the South East by running care homes for the elderly and disabled.
