Brent Cross Shopping Centre is installing a temporary car park management system to deter Olympic spectators from exploiting its car parks.
The shopping centre will enforce the new system for the next two months because of its concern that people will be tempted to park there and then get a tube to the Olympic venues.
The centre has drafted in Creative Parking Ltd to patrol the car parks with automatic number plate recognition cameras, monitor parking spaces, install warning signs encouraging compliance. A maximum stay of five hours will be enforced.
Creative Parking managing director, Gary Wayne, said: “Our scheme has been carefully designed to ensure that regular visitors and customers can continue to use Brent Cross as normal during what is expected to be an exceedingly busy period.
“We have worked hard to design a scheme that will assist the centre management team at Brent Cross to ensure swift ingress and egress for shopper’s vehicles and a plentiful availability of parking spaces whenever possible.”
